Training and Continual Professional Development at Tootsies 

At Tootsies we have recruited our very own Training and Development Officer, Rachel Dearnley. Rachel has over 20 years’ experience in Childcare and Education as nursery owner/manager and Local Authority Advisor and more recently as an Independent Early Years Advisor and Trainer. 

Rachel’s role within Tootsies:

  • To work in collaboration with senior leaders, room leaders and practitioners, to identify training needs to assist in driving quality of practice forward.
  • To establish training and development needs of staff through, audits, observations, conversations, supervision notes etc.
  • To drive staff professional development using appropriate methods (eg, one-off training sessions, longer term project work, mentoring, coaching).
  • Writing training materials, developing and delivering projects/training across the settings.
  • To monitor the impact of training and projects.
  • To support new & unqualified staff to understand the EYFS and their role in delivering good early years practice.
  • Supporting and contributing to the wellbeing of practitioners in their professional development.
  • We also work alongside local training providers to support in staff achieving recognised childcare qualifications.
